Muskoka Lakes Official Plan Community Visioning Session

Muskoka Lakes Official Plan Community Visioning Session
Date: Friday, July 19, 2019 | Time: 1:00pm – 4:00pm
Location: Milford Bay Community Centre (1020 Beaumaris Rd, Milford Bay)

The Township of Muskoka Lakes is working on a review of its Official Plan to enhance the quality of life and environment for residents of Muskoka Lakes and establish a desirable community where residents can live, work and play. As such, the Township of Muskoka Lakes invites community members (residents, businesses, service providers, government agencies, community groups) to help shape the vision of the next Muskoka Lakes Official Plan.

The Province of Ontario sets very high-level land use and development policies that all municipalities must follow. The District of Muskoka has an updated Official Plan that recognizes the unique local context of the District of Muskoka. The District’s Official Plan sets out a vision for the future through land use planning goals and policies to manage change. The intent of the Township Muskoka Lakes Official Plan Review is to ensure that the Official Plan is consistent with Provincial policy and conforms to the new District Official Plan in a manner that reflects the unique context of Muskoka Lakes.

Public and stakeholder engagement is critical to shaping a plan that suits the needs and desires of Muskoka Lakes’ full-time and seasonal residents. By attending this visioning session, community members can provide early input into the Plan’s Vision Statement and key vision ingredients of the Muskoka Lakes Official Plan. Everyone’s voice is important, and we would like to hear from as many people as possible. The feedback collected through the engagement process will be used to inform decision-making as the Project is conducted.

If you are interested in participating but unable to attend the Community Visioning Session, please visit for project updates. All are welcome to provide comment through an online survey, which will be open for two weeks following this session. Further opportunities to participate will be made available to the public throughout this process to the fall of 2020 when the Official Plan is finalized.

Registration for the workshop is encouraged, but not required. Please see for more details. For further information please contact:
