Join us at the Bala branch from 2:00 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. on Mondays, for a relaxed indoor drop-in space. Walk a few laps indoors, sit and do a puzzle, play some cards or board games, or just enjoy a warm place to unwind. A Nintendo Switch will be set up after school for anyone who wants to play!
All ages welcome; light, easygoing activity—come and go as you like.

Children aged 9 and under must have a parent or guardian remain in the library for the duration of the program.

Come to the Bala branch on to enjoy some self-directed gaming fun all week long.  Switch it Up! is structured to be an all-ages Nintendo Switch program where you can team up, compete, or just chill with a variety of games.  No need to register, just drop in during the program and have fun!

Lindsey Edwards' classes are fun and therapeutic, held Tuesdays at our Bala branch from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.  Drop-ins are welcome, or you can call Lindsey, 705-706-4036, to pre-register to attend in-person or online. Chairs provided. Bring your own mat, if you wish, for under the chair.

Suggested $10 or pay what you will.

Come to the Port Carling branch from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on the third Tuesday of the month to watch a short film or documentary, followed by thoughtful conversation. Complimentary coffee and tea will be available. 

Come to the Port Carling branch on Tuesday October 28th from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. to connect with other homeschooling families.  This month there will be Halloween themed books and crafts on hand.  Geared for families with children aged 8 and younger. 

Figuring out a new device?  Giving video chat a try? If you’ve got a question about today’s technology, then we’re here to try and help!  To book your 30 minute session with a staff member, between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. at our Port Carling branch.  Please send an e-mail to info@mlpl.ca or call 705-765-5650 with your technology concern, and to book your 1-on-1 session. 

Every Wednesday drop-in to the Port Carling branch from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. for a social half hour of free play followed by a structured half hour of story and song. This program is intended for babies and tots and their caregiver.  

No need to knit alone! Drop in to the Port Carling branch on Thursdays, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. to share patterns, get inspiration, discuss your latest yarn project, or venture into book discussion and conversations with other knitters and needlecrafters of all abilities. Bring your project and get knitting! No registration required. 

Please note that this is a self-led, drop-in program.

Interested in playing with others in the comfort of the Port Carling branch, in a non-competitive format? Drop in and join the fun from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Thursdays on the lower level of the library in Port Carling. For experienced players and those who would like to learn the games. Come solo, with a partner, or team up once here. Coffee provided. Any questions, please call us at 705-765-5650. 

Come to the Port Carling branch from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and enjoy some fun with board games and LEGO blocks, while enjoying some complimentary snacks.  Boards, Blocks, and Bites is designed to allow for kids of all ages to engage in collaborative play in a fun and welcoming environment. No need to register, just drop in during the program and have fun!

Come to our Port Carling branch once a month on a Thursday evening to enjoy pizza and a movie on us!  Come solo, bring a friend, or even the whole family! Arrive by 5:00, bring along your own beverage and any extra snacks you might require. Pizza will be provided.  Expect the film to begin at 5:05.

Held at our Port Carling branch from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. once a month on a Friday, and once a month on a Saturday. Join fellow art enthusiasts of all skill levels as you come together to enjoy a creative hour of exploring art. Each month, a new project is introduced, using a variety of media from watercolour, acrylic, pastel , mixed media and more. No previous experience is necessary. All materials are supplied.

Held at our Port Carling branch from 10:30 p.m. to 12:30 p.m. on the fourth Friday of the month. Enjoy an informative presentation before sharing in a catered lunch.  For participants aged 55+.

Do you love Art? Would you like to improve your artistic skills? Come join the Art Studio where you can explore the elements of art through drawing, painting and mixed media. Come to the Port Carling branch on Saturdays from 11:00 p.m. to 12:00 p.m. and enjoy an art class geared specifically for teens and tweens. Get creative each week, as you practice different subjects and use different media. No experience is necessary, and all materials are supplied. Ages 10 to teen.
