Continuing into mid September at both locations, you'll be able to enjoy a rotating collection of stories while you visit two of the Township of Muskoka Lakes' parks.  Muskoka Lakes Public Library installs a Story Trail at Jaspen Park in Bala,  as well as Hanna Park  in Port Carling.

Come to our Bala branch on Monday September 22nd, from 3:45 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., to participate in a hands on nature-focused presentation. This is a fun and interactive program where people of all ages can attend and view a variety of neat things, with a focus on found and donated animal skulls! Ask Maggie all of your nature questions; she'll do her very best to answer! 

No registration required, but prompt arrival ensures full participation in the program. 

Lindsey Edwards' classes are fun and therapeutic, held Tuesdays at our Bala branch from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.  Drop-ins are welcome, or you can call Lindsey, 705-706-4036, to pre-register to attend in-person or online. Chairs provided. Bring your own mat, if you wish, for under the chair.

Suggested $10 or pay what you will.

Figuring out a new device?  Giving video chat a try? Every Wednesday, beginning on September 17th, drop-in to the Port Carling branch from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. for a social half hour of free play followed by a structured half hour of story and song. This program is intended for babies and tots and their caregiver.  

Come to our Port Carling branch on Wednesday September 17th, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., to participate in a hands-on workshop in honour of Orange Shirt Day. Participants will learn how to bead an edging on the orange felt to make your own year round Every Child Matters statement piece. Suitable for adults and mature tweens and teens. All materials supplied generously provided by the Muskoka Indigenous Friends Cultural Centre.

No need to knit alone! Drop in to the Port Carling branch on Thursdays, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. to share patterns, get inspiration, discuss your latest yarn project, or venture into book discussion and conversations with other knitters and needlecrafters of all abilities. Bring your project and get knitting! No registration required. 

Please note that this is a self-led, drop-in program.

Interested in playing with others in the comfort of the Port Carling branch, in a non-competitive format? Drop in and join the fun from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Thursdays on the lower level of the library in Port Carling. For experienced players and those who would like to learn the games. Come solo, with a partner, or team up once here. Coffee provided. Any questions, please call us at 705-765-5650. 

Come to our Port Carling branch on Thursday September 18th, from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., to participate in a special Build a Trash Monster! program.  This special event will be facilitated by Lauren, the District of Muskoka's Community Climate Initiatives Coordinator. Participants will learn about the impact of waste, how to reduce waste and re-use our waste, as well as how to be a Climate Hero.

Come to the Port Carling branch from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and enjoy some self-directed LEGO fun.  After School LEGO Club is structured so that you can build at your own pace, in a casual environment.  No need to register, just drop in during the program and get creative! 

Children aged 9 and under must have a parent or guardian remain in the LEGO Club area for the duration of the session, as this is not a staff-led program.

Come to our Port Carling branch on Thursday September 25th, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:45 p.m., to enjoy pizza and a movie on us!  We will be showing the highly acclaimed film Flow. Come solo, bring a friend, or even the whole family.! Arrive at 5:00, bring along your own beverage and any extra snacks you might require. Pizza will be provided.  Expect the film to begin at 5:15.

Come to the Port Carling branch from 3:45 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. and enjoy some self-directed gaming fun.  Switch it Up! is structured to be an all-ages Nintendo Switch hour where you can team up, compete, or just chill with a variety of games.  No need to register, just drop in during the program and have fun!
