Come to the Port Carling branch on Thursday September 3rd from 5:30 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. for an interactive workshop with Dr. Ainslie Harris, founder of AI literacy company Zivo. You'll get a practical, jargon-free introduction to artificial intelligence: what it is, how it works, and how to use it safely, including answers to important questions like: 

• Is AI actually intelligent?
• How does it know what it knows?
• How can we stay safe and protect our private information?
• What are the risks and downsides of using AI?

You'll also learn how to write effective prompts to get better results from AI chat tools. You don’t need any technical knowledge to attend! Everything's covered using everyday, relatable examples.

Come to the Port Carling branch on Fridays from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., beginning on September 11th, and running until October 16th, for a mindfulness program geared towards adults 18+ who have been affected by cancer. This 6-week Mindfulness for Well-Being program offers simple, practical mindfulness and meditation tools to help you stay present with what is happening, work with fear and anxiety, and cultivate more steadiness, acceptance, and ease in daily life.

Come to the Port Carling branch on Saturday September 19th from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. for a hands-on workshop where you will learn how to make a 3D needle-felted seasonal character. This is a beginner's class geared towards participants aged 10+. All materials and supplies are provided.

Come to the Port Carling branch on Thursday October 1st from 5:45 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. for an engaging discussion about the impacts of electrifying your home.  Geared towards homeowners, this discussion will help homeowners better understand why the installation of heat pumps can lower energy bills, increase health and be good for the climate too!  There will be time for questions after the conclusion of the presentation.

Do you have a costume that you no longer wear? We'd love to take it off of your hands and put it in our Halloween Costume Swap. Donate your clean, wearable costumes and accessories to swap for a new-to-you look! You are welcome to donate a costume without exchanging, or take a costume without swapping!

Come to the Bala branch on Monday October 5h from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. to play a round of laser tag within the Community Centre space.  Sign up and battle it out during your designated 30-minute timeslot.  Open to everyone aged 8+!

Come to the Port Carling branch on Saturday October 17th from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. for our Seed Library finale event!

Do you have an abundance of bulbs?  No room to house your excess houseplants this winter?  Perhaps you've saved some seeds from your garden, to donate back to our Seed Library?  Why not gather any extra plant life you may have hanging around and bring it to exchange (or simply donate) for something new-to-you at our Seed Library Season Finale?   

If you can't make it the day of, feel free to drop off to our Port Carling branch as of October 13th.

Come to our Bala branch on Monday October 19th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. for an inspiring celebration of local authors from across Muskoka. Now in its 13th year, this event showcases readings by established and emerging writers from Muskoka. They will present a variety of genres including historical fiction, poetry, humorous personal anecdotes, suspenseful short stories, and novel excerpts.

Coffee and tea will be provided.
