MLPL Service and Space Review
Library Service and Space Review
In the spring of 2026, Muskoka Lakes Public Library began its Service and Space Review, with the help of outside consultants. The review takes a close look at how our two branches, Port Carling and Bala, serve the community today, and what we’ll need in the years ahead. It covers our services, hours, collections, programs and the buildings themselves. It also considers how a growing population and our large seasonal community shape what people need from their library.
The review draws on library data, conversations with staff and community partners, comparisons with similar libraries, and, most importantly, what you told us.
What we heard
Between June and September 2026, 314 of you completed our community survey. Thank you! Your answers about what you value, what’s missing and what would bring you in more often are helping shape the recommendations.

What’s next
Once the review is complete, the final report will go to the Library Board, and then to Township Council. We’ll continue to update, share and keep you in the loop along the way!
