Township Cemeteries

The Township of Muskoka Lakes holds a Cemetery Operator Licence # 3287579 under the Funeral, Burial, and Cremation Services Act, 2002. 

If you need more information regarding the purchase of interment rights, making interment arrangements, inquiries and maintenance concerns, please contact the Public Works Department during regular office hours at 705-765-3156, or email your inquiries to our administration staff.

New Columbarium - Port Carling Cemetery

Our new 72 niche columbarium was installed at Port Carling Cemetery in the Spring of 2024. The 72 niche granite structure is located at an easily accessible location on an elevated pedestal in a tranquil setting providing a peaceful place to visit loved ones and to celebrate or reflect on special memories. Each niche will hold 2 cremations.

If you would like to purchase a niche in one of the units the cemetery administrative assistant would be pleased to assist you in this. 

Information on Interments, Monuments, Columbaria, Lot Decorations, and Interment Rights Purchase is available from the cemetery administrative assistant who would be pleased to speak with you to answer any questions you may have or to explain the details of the Cemetery By-law.

You can find rules and regulations in our Cemetery By-Law about purchasing and transferring interment rights, monuments and markers, and making final arrangements. 

View our Cemetery Fees for the cost of interments and interment rights, corner markers, installing markers, disinterment, and other supplies and services. Fees for the purchase of a cemetery lot and for the installation of a monument include the perpetual care and maintenance of each site as required.

The Township of Muskoka Lakes operates and maintains 12 cemeteries in the heart of beautiful cottage country. We offer a peaceful resting place for your loved ones of all faiths.

  • *Morinus Cemetery – 1227 Morinus Rd.
  • Port Carling Cemetery – 45 Joseph St.
  • Torrance Cemetery – 1026 East Bay Rd.
  • Ufford Cemetery – 1450 Doherty Rd.
  • **Ufford United Cemetery – 1570 Windermere Rd.
  • **Ufford Anglican Cemetery – 1520 Windermere Rd.
  • Ullswater Cemetery – 1289 Old Parry Sound Rd.
  • Ziska Cemetery – 1139 Ziska Rd.

*Morinus and Port Carling Cemetery – All lots have been sold (Except Columbarium in Port Carling). Burials will be carried out in the purchased lots, therefore, the cemetery cannot be considered closed.

**Ufford United, Ufford Anglican and Doherty – Cemeteries are closed.

Do you wish to purchase a columbarium niche?

Do you wish to purchase a cemetery grave or columbarium niche?

We have in-ground graves for sale at most cemeteries and we have columbarium niches for sale at the Port Carling Cemetery.

The cemetery administrative assistant would be pleased to assist you in this. 

Do you need to arrange a burial or interment?

Interments generally may take place between May 1st and November 1st.

As long as the frost or snow isn't too deep it is possible interments may take place after November 1st or before May 1st with the approval of the Cemetery Leadhand. We can talk to see if this is possible.

Do you want to place a monument or marker in one of our cemeteries?

Only a monument company may make and place monuments and markers.
