Burgess Dam Situation Update

If you received a Voyent Alert! on April 20, please be assured the Burgess Dam in Bala is stable, operating as designed and remains well within manageable limits.

Evacuation is not required. Our crews are actively monitoring conditions and prepared to respond as needed.

For residents in low-lying areas downstream of the Moon River are encouraged to take standard precautions to protect their properties from flooding.

Wharf Information

Wharf managers are responsible for four of our docking facilities throughout the Township. They are located at:

  • Beaumaris Wharf, 1216 Beaumaris Rd., Beaumaris, ON
  • Foot's Bay, 1040 McDonald Rd, MacTier, ON
  • Windermere Wharf, 2510 Windermere Rd, Windermere, ON
  • Maple Leaf Bay Dock, 1007 Maple Leaf Bay Rd

Wharf managers are responsible for the following:

  • Assess and collect fees
  • Facilitate public access to docking privileges
  • Monitor wharf use by the public and commercial users
  • Enforce provisions of the By-law
  • Seek assistance from the Township By-law Enforcement Officer when required
  • Provide a season end report
  • Submit a copy of docking permits and payments at the end of the season
  • Perform daily inspections
  • Perform routine, general maintenance

For further details on site-specific regulations and responsibilities of wharf managers, view By-law 2003-29

  • Per day (or after 4 hours) - $1 per foot of boat length
  • Per month - $15 per foot of boat length
  • Per season - $40 per foot of boat length or $800, whichever sum is greater

The summer season begins April 1st and ends on September 30th of each year. Fees are applicable for pleasure craft only. Commercial use is subject to additional guidelines. View By-Law 2003-29 for full details or contact the Operational Services Department at 705-765-3156.
