Voting Methods

Voting will be conducted by Internet & Telephone.

The voting link and phone number will be available at the start of the voting period at: muskokalakes.ca/2026-elections

Please Note: In-person voting is available at the Township Office using designated voting computers. Voters may access this service during regular business hours (Monday to Friday, 8:15 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.) and on Election Day, October 26, until 8:00 p.m. Election staff will be available to assist voters with the voting process if needed.

There are three ways you can qualify as an elector:

  • Resident Elector: Lives in the municipality and considers it their permanent home.
  • Non-Resident Elector: Lives outside the municipality but owns or rents property here. Proof of ownership or tenancy may be required.
  • Spouse of a Non-Resident Elector: Is the spouse or same-sex partner of a non-resident property owner or tenant.

Please Note: If the property is owned by a business or a trust, you would not qualify as a non-resident elector.

If you are unsure whether you qualify as a non-resident elector, contact the Clerk for clarification.

Visit www.registertovoteon.ca to check, update or add your information to the voters list for municipal, district social services administration board, school board and provincial elections in Ontario.

Electors can use the Check function on the website to see if they are on the list for their home address as well as if they are registered at any additional properties. Non-resident electors can add their additional properties to their existing elector record but using the Add function and selecting Add or search a property other than your home address.

The 2022 voters list was provided by the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC). Elections Ontario is now responsible for producing the List of Electors for the 2026 municipal election.

This is Elections Ontario’s first municipal list; it was not built from MPAC’s 2022 data. As a result, being on the MPAC list in 2022 does not guarantee you’ll appear on Elections Ontario’s list. Once you register with Elections Ontario through the Register to Vote website, however, your information will be kept on the Register for future elections.

Questions From Candidates:

Click on a question below to read the answer as provided by the Township Clerk.

You are correct. Council passed the required by-law in 2025 authorizing an alternative voting method, being internet and telephone voting. The procedures, which will be published on the website later this week, have stipulated the voting window and I can confirm it will open on Wednesday, October 14th at 10:00 a.m. and will close, per the Municipal Elections Act, at 8:00 p.m. on October 26th. While there will be no paper ballots, there will be an election help centre staffed during the window at the Municipal Office. If members of the public require a computer or assistance, they are welcome to attend the Help Centre at 1 Bailey St. Port Carling during regular business hours and during additional hours, as outlined in the election procedures.
