Advisory Lifted: Blue-Green Algae in Hammell’s Bay, Three Mile Lake

The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit (SMDHU) has lifted the public advisory for the blue-green algae bloom previously identified on the west shoreline of Hammell’s Bay, Three Mile Lake, near Sandwood Road in Utterson. The advisory, first issued in 2024, is no longer in effect.

Residents and visitors are encouraged to stay informed about blue-green algae, which can occur naturally in lakes and warm, still water conditions. Blooms may look like green paint, pea soup, or surface scum, and can vary in colour.

Understanding what to look for helps keep our lakes safe for everyone.
