MUSKOKA LAKES, ON, Sept. 24, 2025 – The Township of Muskoka Lakes Fire Department will be conducting its Tanker Shuttle Accreditation on Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2025, with testing operations based out of Muskoka Lakes Sports Park (Bala) and a designated water dump site on the south end of Acton Island Road.

A practice run will be conducted on Wednesday, Sept. 24 from 6:30 – 9:30 p.m.

This is a planned exercise. There is no emergency and no risk to public safety.

This is an essential process led by the Fire Underwriters Survey, which evaluates and verifies our department’s water shuttle capabilities in areas without hydrants. Successfully achieving accreditation helps improve fire protection grades and may have a positive impact on insurance rates for local property owners.

Residents can expect to see increased fire department activity around Muskoka Lakes Sports Park (Bala) and south end of Acton Island Road during the evening of Sept. 24 and the day of Oct. 4, including the use of multiple fire trucks and water tankers.

We thank the community for their cooperation and understanding as the Fire Department completes this important accreditation process.
