Planned Emergency Training – August 22–24 at Windsor Park, Bala

Muskoka Lakes, ON – August 19, 2025 – The Township of Muskoka Lakes Fire Department will be hosting the NFPA 1006 Surface Water Operations & Technician Course from August 22 to 24, 2025 at Windsor Park in Bala.

Residents and visitors may observe increased fire department activity and watercraft operations in the area throughout the training period. Signage will be in place to inform the public.

This is a planned training exercise. There is no emergency and no risk to public safety.

Training Schedule

  • Friday, August 22: 6:00 PM – 10:00 PM
  • Saturday, August 23: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Sunday, August 24: 8:00 AM – 11:30 AM

This certified Off-Campus training, delivered through the Ontario Fire College (OFC), plays a critical role in preparing firefighters to deliver surface water rescue training internally across the District, enhancing emergency readiness and regional capacity. Hosting the training locally reflects the Township's ongoing leadership in public safety and commitment to high standards in fire service operations.
