Township of Muskoka Lakes Launches Short Term Rental Accommodations Online Application Portal

The streamlined digital application process allows property owners to submit and monitor STRA licences in one place, with secure uploads, automated reminders, and a limited‑time discount.

Muskoka Lakes, ON – July 28, 2025 – The Township of Muskoka Lakes is pleased to announce the official launch of its Short Term Rental Accommodation (STRA) Application Portal, available starting today, through the Cloudpermit platform.

The online portal offers a streamlined and convenient licensing process, allowing users to complete applications, upload required documents, track progress in real time, and receive important reminders about renewals and deadlines. Additionally, it offers residents and visitors the ability to verify whether a short-term rental is officially licensed with the Township. This new level of transparency supports safe, responsible rental activity across Muskoka Lakes.

Early Application Incentive
Operators who apply before September 30, 2025, will receive a 20% discount on their licence fees. Licences issued under this incentive will be effective from November 1, 2025, through November 1, 2026.

Information Session Webinar (July 29, 2025)
To support operators in navigating the new Short Term Rental Accommodation Application Portal, the Township of Muskoka Lakes By-law Department, in partnership with the Muskoka Lakes Chamber of Commerce, will host a live virtual information session on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at 2:00 PM ET.

The session will feature a step-by-step demonstration on how to use the portal, including how to complete and submit a Short Term Rental Accommodation application, followed by a live Q&A session.
