Watershed Conditions Statement - Water Safety (Effective Until July 14, 2025)
MUSKOKA LAKES, ON – The Township of Muskoka Lakes is advising residents and visitors to use extra caution around lakes, rivers, and waterways following a Watershed Conditions Statement – Water Safety Bulletin issued by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) – Bracebridge Minden Parry Sound District.
The bulletin is in effect through Monday, July 14, 2025, specifically within the MNR Bracebridge Minden Parry Sound District for portions of the District of Parry Sound and the District of Nipissing, within the South River, Magnetawan River, and Seguin River watersheds.
Significant rainfall between July 6–7 has resulted in higher-than-normal water levels and river flows across the region. While widespread flooding is not expected, localized impacts may occur in low-lying or flood-prone areas as water continues to move through the system.
The Township encourages residents and visitors to:
- Exercise caution near all waterbodies;
- Closely supervise children and pets near shorelines;
- Secure property if past high-water events have posed risk;
- Stay informed on developing weather and watershed conditions;
- Avoid forest access roads, which may be flooded or impassable.
The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry is actively monitoring watershed conditions, and the Township will share relevant updates as they become available.
