Road Closure – River Street, from Muskoka Rd. 169 to west of Mill St. (Seasonal Flooding)
MUSKOKA LAKES, ON, April 15, 2026 – Effective immediately, River Street is closed from Muskoka Rd. 169 to 50m west of Mill St. due to seasonal flooding. Access is permitted for local vehicle and pedestrian traffic only.
Seasonal flooding is affecting several roads across the Township, including:
- Road Closure – South Monck Drive, from Crawford Rd. to Falkenburg Rd. (Seasonal Flooding)
- Road Closure – Beatrice Townline, North of Falkenburg Road
Residents and visitors are urged to avoid non-essential travel in affected areas and to monitor conditions closely, as heavy rainfall and runoff may create hazardous driving conditions, including pooling water, reduced visibility, erosion, and sudden road damage.
This notice will be updated once water levels recede and Public Works crews are able to safely inspect the road. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to address this matter.

Flood Safety & Preparedness
- Stay Informed: Monitor local weather forecasts and pay attention to Water Bulletins and flood messages issued by the Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) and local authorities. Explore the provincial Flood Forecasting and Warning Program
- Keep Away From Flooded Areas: Never walk, wade, or drive through flooded roads or fast-moving water. Even shallow water can be dangerous and unpredictable.
- Protect Your Property: Move valuables, fuel tanks, and equipment to higher ground. Secure docks, boats, and loose shoreline items that could float away.
- Around Water: Keep children and pets away from flooded shorelines, rivers, culverts, dams, and spillways. Cold, fast-moving water is extremely hazardous.
- Be Ready to Act: Follow instructions from emergency officials promptly and be prepared to leave the area if evacuation is recommended. Avoid unnecessary travel so emergency crews can respond safely. Prepare an emergency kit that is ready to take with you at a moment’s notice.
