Muskoka Lakes Firefighters Recognized at Annual Service Awards Dinner

Members of the Muskoka Lakes Fire Department were recently recognized for significant service milestones, achievements and contributions to the community at the annual Muskoka Lakes Fire Department Service Awards Dinner.

The annual event provides an opportunity to recognize the dedication and commitment of firefighters who serve the Muskoka Lakes community, including those reaching significant years of service and members recognized for their contributions to emergency response, training, public education and leadership. This year, the Department also welcomed and recognized 20 new recruits beginning their service with Muskoka Lakes Fire.

Congratulations to this year’s award recipients and newest recruits, and thank you to all members of the Muskoka Lakes Fire Department for their continued service and commitment to the community. Appreciation is also extended to the families and loved ones whose ongoing support is an important part of the service and dedication of our firefighters.

Fire Chief's Commendations

The Prevent Harm Award recognizes the Muskoka Lakes firefighter who achieved the highest attendance at emergency incidents, demonstrating dedication and pride in serving the community.

Survive Award

The Survive Award recognizes the Muskoka Lakes firefighter with the highest participation in training and who has demonstrated professionalism and accountability to those we serve.

Be Nice Award

The Be Nice Award recognizes the Muskoka Lakes firefighter who participated in the greatest number of public and life safety education programs, including community events, door-to-door smoke alarm campaigns and school visits. The award recognizes compassion, community service and a commitment to preventing emergencies before they happen.

Charlie Cameron Memorial Award

The Charlie Cameron Memorial Award is presented in honour of former Fire Chief Charlie Cameron, the first Fire Coordinator for Muskoka Lakes.

The award recognizes a firefighter who demonstrates strong attendance, remains cool and calm in their duties, supports the development of others, participates in the community and has earned the respect of fellow firefighters.
