Municipal Elections Act, 1996 s. 32

MUNICIPAL ELECTION DAY is Monday October 26, 2026.

Nominations are to be filed with the Clerk, or designate, and may be made by completing the prescribed Nomination Form and associated documents with acceptable identification and the nomination filing fee.

Nominations must be signed by the candidate and filed in person during regular business hours beginning on Monday May 1, 2026 through to 2:00pm on Friday August 21, 2026 (Nomination Day). Appointments are required to align with the availability of election staff.

Remember, no ice is safe ice. 

Summary:

• Higher-than-normal flows are occurring due to recent rainfall and snowmelt
• Slippery stream banks and fast flowing, cold water will create hazardous conditions around all water bodies.
• Residents that have been affected by high water and flow conditions in the past should continue take necessary action to protect/secure any vulnerable property in proximity to rivers and lakes and closely monitor developing conditions.
• Residents are reminded to keep a close watch on weather conditions, regularly check for updated messages, exercise caution near fast moving rivers and streams and maintain close supervision of children and pets.
• The 7-day forecast is predicting daytime highs of 13°C to -2°C and overnight lows are forecasted between 3°C and -8°C with up to 3 cm of snowfall and 50 mm of rainfall. Yellow Rainfall Warnings have been issued by Environment and Climate Change Canada for portions of the district.

Members of the public may see an increased presence of fire personnel, along with visible smoke and related odours in the area of Port Carling during:

• Tuesday, Apr. 7 – Friday, Apr. 10 (4:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.)
• Saturday, Apr. 11 (8:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m.)
• Sunday, Apr. 12 (8:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.)
