In these Council and Committee Highlights you will find a monthly digest of featured news and updates coming out of the Council and Committee meetings.

The closure will extend from Mill Street to approximately 50 metres west (see map below). A signed detour route will be in place, and access to River Street will remain available via Maple Avenue.

Construction is anticipated to be completed by Fall/Winter 2026. Please drive with caution and follow all posted signage in the area.

TAKE NOTICE that Gordon Roberts has filed nomination papers with the Clerk for the office of:

Township Council
Ward B / Ward 2

in the Township of Muskoka Lakes for the 2026 Municipal and School Board Election.

Water levels and river flows in many locations are currently elevated and are expected to remain high over the next week, which include: 

• Lake Muskoka
• Lake Rosseau
• Moon River including the Bala Reach
• Lake Cecebe
• Ahmic Lake and portions of the watershed downstream of Ahmic Lake

Be advised:

• Residents, visitors, and boaters are advised to use extreme caution near dams, as recent high-water levels may have affected safety booms, signage, barriers, and other safety features.
• Use caution in lower-lying portions of known flood-prone areas and forest access roads as they may be impacted to varying degrees. 
• Keep a close watch on weather conditions, exercise caution near fast moving rivers and streams and maintain close supervision of children and pets. 
• In areas experiencing high water levels, please slow down and be mindful of your wake.

New Rating (MODERATE) – what this means:

• Daytime burning (8 a.m. until 6 p.m.) is permitted with a valid open-air fire permit
• Small, confined fires are permitted in the evening (6 p.m. until 8 a.m. the following morning) without a permit, use caution with fires

• Fireworks are strictly prohibited, and any display firework permits are void
• Small, confined fires are permitted in the evening (6 p.m. until 8 a.m. the following morning) without a permit, use extreme caution with fires
