The Township of Muskoka Lakes includes the following departments:

Chief Administrative Officer

The Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) is responsible for the leadership and general management of the Corporation and serves as a key advisor and liaison to Council.

The CAO administers the Township's business affairs in accordance with the provincial legislation and with the policies and programs approved and established by Township Council.

Human Resources

Human Resources is responsible for recruiting staff, salary and benefits, employee and labour relations, health and safety, wellness, training and development, and the Joint Health and Safety Committee.

Communications and Economic Development

Communications responsible for all internal/external corporate communications, marketing and promotional efforts.

The role of Economic Development for the Township of Muskoka Lakes involves generating prosperous conditions for economic growth and enhancing the well-being of the community.

Clerk's and Legislative Services

The Clerk's and Legislative Services Department prepares agendas and minutes, maintains municipal records, including by-laws and minutes and processes requests under the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. Road allowance closures, license agreements, lottery licensing, vital statistics, tag days, delegation requests, and cemeteries are also among the administrative services provided.

Municipal elections are conducted pursuant to the Municipal Elections Act through this department and are held every four years.

Township Council Policies, the Municipal Act and other related legislation govern the Clerk's and Legislative Services Department.

This Department, which provides reception and customer service for the Township, is generally your first point of contact. They will be pleased to assist you and direct your inquiry.

Treasury

Treasury is responsible for all accounting services for the corporation including the collection of property taxes, the payment of bills for all department purchases of good and services, payroll and personnel records, invoicing and collection of general fees.

Public Works

The Public Works Department is responsible for the management of Municipal infrastructure and assets including Township roads, sidewalks, bridges, drainage systems, parks, cemeteries, buildings, fleet, signage and streetlights.

With an aim to protect public Health and Safety and building occupants, the Development Services Department is responsible for the administration of the provisions of the Building Code Act and Ontario Building Code.

Planning

The Planning Department provides various planning services to the Township Council, under the Planning Act, making recommendations to Council and Committees on development and land use matters.

Emergency Services

The Emergency Services Department is comprised of the Fire Department and Emergency Management. The Fire Department provides timely and effective emergency response to incidents such as Fires, Motor Vehicle Accidents, and Medical Emergencies as well as providing a comprehensive disaster response program to aid residents in coping during times of need such as Power Outages, Floods, Wildland Fires, and Severe Weather incidents.
